Directions

By Car

You can easily reach the Park by car from three sides:

  • From the west, by taking the highway A24 Roma-L'Aquila (exit Mandela-Vicovaro) and then Tiburtina Valeria leading to the junction to Camerata Nuova. From here, go ahead along a smooth-flowing SP road until you will get to the small town after about ten kilometers.
As an alternative to Mandela-Vicovaro exit, you can take the exit Carsoli, always along the highway Roma-L'Aquila. From here you can go back to Camerata Nuova, following Tiburtina Valeria for about 1 kilometer.

  • From the south, you can take the SS road Sublacense which, leaving from the crossroads with Tiburtina Valeria at Roviano, gets to Subiaco. From here you can go ahead both to Cervara di Roma (about twelve kilometers) and to Mt. Livata (as many kilometers), and to Jenne and Vallepietra (for a total of 25 kilometers). You can reach the eastern section of the Park, that is Trevi nel Lazio and Filettino, from Altipiani di Arcinazzo along the SP road which, after passing Ponte delle Tartare, follows the other edge of the Park (about 20 kilometers).

  • You can also reach Monti Simbruini Park from Abruzzi by taking the highway A24 Roma-L'Aquila-Teramo, Tagliacozzo exit. After crossing Tiburtina Valeria at the town gates, you will start to climb towards Cappadocia and then go ahead along a mountain road to the border with Camerata Nuova territory. The territory you will cross is characterized by great expanses which, sometimes surrounded by centuries-old beech tree woods, are the most authentic examples of uncontaminated nature.

By Bus or by Train

All the Park towns are connected with Rome by the CO.TRA.L. bus service (the regional transport consortium). The terminus in Rome is Rebibbia, in connection with the stop of the Underground - line B. It is not recommended to travel by train, since the line Rome-Pescara has only two railway stations near the Park area, Mandela and Carsoli.
